"The man Matskevich has been in prison for a year, since August 4, 2021, but it has not affected the philosopher Matskevich.

Matskevich was always perfectly aware of both this advantage and the responsibility associated with it.

Ironically, he replied to all warnings of arrest: "I am a philosopher, I am your opinion, who will arrest me?"

Two new books by Matskevich were published this year - "Responsible for myself.

Eclipses of a philosopher with a harmful character" and "Freedom and thinking.

Essay on civil society".

In the first book, Matskevich addresses the necessity of philosophy for the arrangement of the country.

"No revolution is possible without a modern and contemporary philosophy," he writes.

In the second book, he analyzes the civil society that is transforming Belarus, mastering and establishing control over all areas of the nation's life.

In February 2022, Matskevich announced a hunger strike.
