The Taliban say their leadership was not aware that al-Zawahiri was in Kabul.

The killing of al-Zawahiri in Afghanistan has raised questions about the credibility of the Taliban in Afghanistan, which could further delay the recognition of his government.

The Taliban has now found a new way to deal with it.

According to Reuters, the

Taliban will investigate America's claim whether al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri was actually killed in its attack.

A Taliban leader gave this information on Thursday.

The US claims that al-Zawahiri was killed in a drone strike while he was standing in the balcony of his hideout in Kabul.

The US called it the biggest blow to al-Qaeda since the killing of Osama bin Laden.

The Taliban's representative to the United Nations, Suhail Shaheen, said: "The government and the leadership were not aware of what is being claimed, nor is there any evidence for it."

Suhail Shaheen, who was present in Doha, gave this information in a message to the journalists.

"Investigations are underway to find out how much truth is in America's claim," he said.

He said the results of the investigation would be made public.

Taliban leaders are having lengthy discussions about how to respond to the US drone strike.

The Taliban's response could affect their government's international recognition and the multibillion-dollar confiscated funds.
