China is furious over US Parliament Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan

  • Nancy Pelosi said during a meeting with Taiwanese President Tsai Ing Wen, "Today our delegation has come to Taiwan to make it clear that we will not back down from our commitments to Taiwan and we are proud of our friendship."

Nancy Pelosi comes second only to the presidency and is the highest-ranked US leader to visit Taiwan in the past 25 years.

This visit has triggered a diplomatic dispute between China and America.

  • China has also announced live-fire military drills around Taiwan.

According to Taiwan's Ministry of Defense, it can put Taiwan's main ports and urban areas at risk.

  • At one time, the zone of Chinese operations will remain at 20 kilometers from Taiwan.

This has come to the fore in the information of military exercises conducted by the People's Liberation Army.

  • The risk of disputes and misunderstandings is increasing in this area.

Taiwanese officials have asked the public to maintain peace.

It has been said that the Ministry of Defense is closely taking stock of the preparedness and is strengthening its capability.

If needed, appropriate reply will be given in time.

  • Taiwan's Defense Ministry has also said that China's military exercise will violate Taiwan's maritime border.

This is an act of provoking international order.

  • In response to Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan, China has imposed restrictions on Taiwan's fruit and fish imports and halted shipments.

  • The Foreign Minister of South-East Asia will also see how to reduce the increasing tensions regarding Taiwan.

A regional dialogue is being held today regarding this.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) held a meeting in Phnom Penh to discuss the Myanmar crisis.

  • China has said that it will one day take over self-governing, democratic Taiwan, even if it requires force.

China tries to isolate Taiwan on the global stage and blocks other countries from official ties with Taipei.

  • Taiwan's 23 million people have long lived under the shadow of the prospect of infiltration, and this fear has only increased under the regime of incumbent President Xi Jinping.

  • Japan has expressed concern over China's military exercises near Taiwan.
