The Macedonian opposition party OBRM-PDUKM has not yet defined the question with which they propose that the country go to a referendum.

They say that the referendum will be a slap in the face to the government for policies that are not in the interest of the citizens.

"It is clear that there should be a referendum.

But it is even more clear that the government is afraid and knows that it is not right, so it avoids this topic.

As soon as we finish with intra-party consultations, we will come out and present publicly what the question will be and how it will be realized", said Dimçe Arsovski from OBRM-PDUKM.

For SDSM, the announced referendum of the opposition will only have intra-party weight.

"OBRM-PDUKM has not yet defined the question for the referendum they are proposing.

This is evidence that the OBRM-PDUKM, namely Hristijan Mickoski, uses the referendum only for internal use, namely to preserve his seat in the party", said Bogdanka Kuzeska, SDSM.

The idea for the OBRM-PDUKM referendum came after the government approved the negotiating framework with the EU.

The opposition intends to ask the citizens if they agree with the negotiations with the EU, with the conditions contained in the framework.

At the state level, according to the Constitution and Regulations, the Assembly announces a referendum on its own initiative or on the proposal of at least 150,000 citizens.

The majority of voters must vote for it if at least one third of the citizens registered in the electoral roll participate in the referendum.

At least 61 votes in the Assembly are needed to approve the results of the referendum.
