The price of bread has increased in many bakeries in the country, mainly in the city of Skopje.

The new prices are 8 to 10% higher.

The reason for this increase is the rising cost of energy, say the bakery industry.

"This is mostly due to the impact of the increase in the price of gas, which in August increased several times compared to July, as well as the increase in the price of electricity with new changes in regulations and laws for small companies that participate in the regulated market as well as for households where the price of electricity has also increased", said Goran Malishić, president of the factory industry group.

The citizens of Skopje also noticed the change.

They say that for two days almost all types of bread have increased in price.

It is expected that the price of bread will continue to rise, in parallel with the increase in energy prices.

Therefore the millers and bakers asked for state aid.

"The state must participate in subsidizing companies with electricity prices, because only we as an industry in our country are exposed to the most expensive electricity.

Everywhere in the environment electricity is regulated and subsidized by governments.

If energy prices continue to rise and reach their peak in the summer period, imagine what will happen in the autumn or winter months", said the bakery industry.

The bread margin remains limited to 5% until the end of September.

It is not yet known if and what anti-crisis measures will be taken next.
