The Commercial Court is expected to handle all disputes related to economic matters and administrative conflicts in economic disputes.

The Commercial Court of the Republic of Kosovo has started work.

The news was announced by the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu.

Through a note on Facebook, Haxhiu has said that despite the doubts from television studio opinion-makers, the Commercial Court has started functioning.

"Despite our promises for its quick operationalization, in televised debates everywhere, it was said that the Commercial Court cannot be operationalized before 5 years.

The Commercial Court started its work a few months after the entry into force of the Law", wrote Haxhiu.

On this occasion, the Minister of Justice thanked all those who have contributed to the functionalization of this institution.

"I thank the Assembly for the support as well as the Judicial Council for the cooperation and commitment to the functioning of the Commercial Court, as well as the USAID program for commercial justice."

"Good job to the judges and support staff, I wish them to perform their work with honor and dedication and only in accordance with the powers and legislation", concluded Haxhiu.

The Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC), at its 288th meeting, held in May of this year, has elected four judges for the second instance chamber of the Commercial Court.

The judges who have been elected by the Council to serve in the second instance chamber are judges Faton Bajrami, Franciska Zhitia-Ymeri, Krenar Berisha and judge Saranda Bogaj-Sheremeti.

The Commercial Court is expected to handle all disputes related to economic issues and administrative conflicts in economic disputes will be under the jurisdiction of the Commercial Court.

According to the statements of the heads of government institutions in the country, the Law on the Commercial Court will create sufficient opportunities for increasing the efficiency in the resolution of commercial disputes, in order that the rights of businesses acquired from the resolution of commercial and administrative disputes are realized without delay, thus facilitating capital utilization.

From the same leaders, it was also said that this law will also facilitate the attraction of foreign investments, making Kosovo credible, serious and committed to justice and the right, as well as to economic development.

In addition, this Law is estimated to ensure the freedom of entrepreneurship, the equality of the parties, the right to property and the implementation of contracts, in accordance with the constitution and laws of the country, as well as it is estimated that it will build the confidence of investors, by including exile./
