The ED has seized around ₹ 50 crore cash along with jewelery from two flats of Arpita in Kolkata and Belghoria.

Kolkata :

Kolkata: Arpita Mukherjee, a close aide of suspended Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Partha Chatterjee, today said she was not aware of the crores of rupees recovered by the agency.

“This money has been kept in his house without his knowledge,” said Arpita Mukherjee.

Significantly, Arpita has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the investigation of the school recruitment scam.

Enforcement Directorate officials have recovered around ₹50 crore in cash along with jewelery from his two flats in south-west Kolkata and Belghoria.

Partha Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee were taken to ESI Joka on the southern outskirts of the city for a medical examination.

After getting off a vehicle, Arpita Mukherjee told waiting reporters, "The money was kept in my houses without my knowledge."

After this statement of Arpita, the speculation has intensified as to whom she was pointing fingers.

Earlier, Partha Chatterjee was sacked from the post of minister.

But he said he had become "the victim of a conspiracy".

He had also expressed his displeasure over the decision to be removed from the post of minister.

Partha Chatterjee had also said whether the action against him was justified or not, only time will tell.

Both have repeatedly told the media that the money recovered was not theirs.

Both will be produced in PMLA court tomorrow.

Tomorrow their 10-day Enforcement Directorate custody will end.
