According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian forces are responsible for the killing of 53 prisoners of war at Olenivka.

Two U.S. officials confirmed anonymously to Politico that the advanced U.S. missile system known as HIMARS — the most accurate artillery currently used by the Ukrainian military — was found near the prison.

On the other hand, the Kremlin claims that Ukraine had fired missiles from HIMARS to destroy these centers and kill Ukrainian traitors.

However, satellite images from this prison show that only one building was destroyed by the attack that did not collapse, and there were no signs of rocket shrapnel, which would indicate the building was destroyed by something else.

A US official told Politico that "the evidence shows that the attack was not carried out by Kiev".

If Ukraine had carried out the attack with something other than HIMARS, the damage would be visible all around the building – including the crater from the fall of the missile.

According to American estimates, HIMARS was not used in this attack, and this institute points out that Russia is responsible for the attack on the prison in Ukraine - thus violating the Geneva Convention.

ISW has also announced that Russian forces are massing more soldiers north of Donetsk to support defensive positions in southern Ukraine.
