According to the information of the Lithuanian customs, the DAF truck arrived at the Raigardas border checkpoint (Privalka on the Belarusian side) in the evening of July 30.



The driver stated that he was transporting 14.4 tons of vermiculite (mineral. — BPN.) from Kazakhstan to Germany.



However, when checking the cargo with the help of an X-ray system, half a million packs of Belarusian-made cigarettes were found hidden under the bags, the customs department clarified.



By court decision, the citizen of Belarus, who was driving the truck, was arrested for two months.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the fact of smuggling.

As reported, the control over cars that often cross the Lithuanian-Belarusian border was stricter.
