The American government has not yet confirmed the death of Al-Zawahiri, Telegraph reports.

"Over the weekend, the United States conducted a counterterrorism operation against the leader of Al Qaeda in Afghanistan.

The operation was successful and no civilians were reported injured or killed by this drone attack," a senior official of the US administration announced.
