Acting Minister of Economy Nikola Stoyanov was dismissed as head of the board of VMZ-Sopot at the beginning of June by the then Deputy Prime Minister Cornelia Ninova.

The reasons for the change were the deteriorating financial condition of the military plant, according to Ninova VMZ-Sopot, which ended 2021 with a profit of BGN 3.107 million, but for the first quarter of 2022 there was an accumulated loss of BGN 1.64 million and the refusal of the company's board to transfer 100% of the 2021 dividend to the budget by April 30, 2022, reports 24 Hours.

Nikola Stoyanov threatened to sue Ninova for false statements.

And she added that the reasons she reported for his dismissal had nothing to do with reality.

Stoyanov was elected through competition and had a mandate until April 2026.

In November 2021, when the new board took office, the military plant was struggling to raise money for wages.

With serious work, the board of directors was able to sign contracts for BGN 102 million and stabilize the plant by December 15.
