Albanian President Bayram Begai held a telephone conversation with Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani after the events that created tension in Northern Kosovo, BTA reported, citing the "Albanian Daily News" website.

According to a press release of the Albanian presidency, during the conversation, Begai welcomed "the measured decision that the Kosovo authorities have taken in close cooperation and coordination with international partners, to postpone the implementation of the decision on reciprocity with Serbia on the issues agreed earlier. The head of state stressed that the decision helped to avoid a serious provocation for the stability of Kosovo, especially in this situation, loaded with threats and increased risks for the peace and security of the region after the Russian aggression in Ukraine," the message states.

The Albanian president has stressed that Kosovo is now an "irreversible political reality" contributing to peace and stability in the region, and that its sovereignty remains inviolable.

Begai adds that he joins the calls of NATO allies and international partners to continue dialogue with the mediation of the European Union to normalize relations between Kosovo and Serbia.

"Only through a constructive and intensive dialogue will it be possible to adequately resolve all open issues between Kosovo and Serbia. Albania will continue to contribute with all its abilities and opportunities to the preservation of peace and stability in the region, as well as strongly support the continuation of the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia," Begai emphasized in his conversation with Osmani.
