Kolkata:

Days after sacked Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee seized a lot of cash and several kilos of gold from his aide Arpita Mukherjee's residence in Kolkata, they today claimed that it was not their money.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized cash worth around Rs 50 crore from two houses of Arpita Mukherjee during raids in connection with alleged irregularities in the recruitment of teachers.

Both Chatterjee and Mukherjee were arrested this month.

The former minister was brought to a central government-run hospital in Kolkata for examination.

When he got out of a vehicle after Joka was taken to ESI Hospital for medical examination and when reporters approached him to ask questions regarding the scam, Chatterjee said, "The money (recovered money) is not mine." '

Is someone conspiring against them?

In response to this question, the former minister replied that "when the time comes" everything will be known.

Chatterjee had on Friday said that he was a victim of a conspiracy and expressed displeasure over the Trinamool Congress's decision to suspend him.

"This decision (to suspend me) may affect a fair investigation...," he said. Chatterjee, once considered close to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, said of the move to remove him from the ministry, " His (Banerjee's) decision is correct." Chatterjee, 69, was relieved of his duties as minister in charge of various departments and suspended from the TMC on Thursday.

He has also been removed from all party posts.

One of his close aide Arpita Mukherjee has also been arrested by the ED after seizure of crores of rupees in cash from their residences in some parts of the city.

The TMC leadership objected to his comments, saying that Chatterjee was himself responsible for his own destiny.

TMC state general secretary Kunal Ghosh had said on Thursday, "Why was he silent for the last few days after his arrest?

He has every right to approach the court and prove his innocence.

The party has nothing to do with this scam.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing alleged irregularities in recruitment of teachers in government-sponsored and aided schools along with Group-C and-D employees on the recommendations of the West Bengal School Service Commission, as directed by the Calcutta High Court.
