Vilnius customs officials last week detained a man who was carrying contraband worth more than 34,000 euros, reports Delfi.lt.

The man flew to Vilnius from Minsk via Istanbul.

He had an average of 1,450 packs of Belarusian cigarettes in each suitcase.

A total of 9,148 packs of Queen Menthol, NZ Gold and Minsk Superslims cigarettes.

An investigation was started against him on the fact of transporting contraband.

The violator was detained for two days, and then released on bail.

In addition, his documents were confiscated, and he also had to make a monetary deposit.

Lithuanian customs officers notice that similar "tourist" trips to Western Europe are very popular recently, such "tourists" are also caught at the airports of other countries.
