Spain registered a second death from monkey fever, the Ministry of Health announced today, as quoted by BTA.

The two deaths from the infection in Spain are believed to be the first confirmed since the disease began to spread in the European Union.

The ministry did not provide further details about the deceased.

Yesterday, it reported the country's first recorded death from monkey fever.

Yesterday, the Spanish Ministry of Health announced that a total of 4,298 people in the country have been infected with the virus, which puts Spain in first place among European countries in the number of registered cases of the infection.

Of all reported cases, nearly 3,500 were of men who had sexual contact with other men, and only 64 cases were of women.
