Iranian authorities executed three women on Wednesday for killing their husbands, a human rights charity said.

According to the Iran Human Rights Group, they were among 32 people executed last week alone.

Among those executed who was sentenced for murdering her husband was a woman who had married the latter at the age of 15, Telegrafi reports.

Authorities are believed to have significantly increased their use of the death penalty, executing twice as many people so far this year than last year.

Rights groups report that Iran also executes more women than any other country, most of whom are thought to have been found guilty of murdering their husbands.

On Wednesday, the Iran Human Rights Group said Soheila Abadi was hanged in prison after being convicted of murdering her husband, 10 years after marrying him, when she was 15.

The sentencing court is reported to have stated that the motives for the murder were "family disputes".
