Deputies of the Vetëvendosje Movement did not support the Draft Law on Health initiated by the Democratic League of Kosovo.

This is because the LVV declares that such a draft law is close to being finalized by the Ministry of Health.

On the other hand, the opposition criticizes the majority for arrogance of numbers and violation of democracy.

The initiator of the draft law, LDK deputy, Armend Zemaj said that it aims to increase the quality of health services.

"The purpose of this draft law is to increase the quality of health services, the unification of the health system and the favoring of human scientific achievements that ensures the sustainability of the system and health professionals", said Zemaj, deputy of the LDK, who once he was also the Minister of Health, reports RTK.

"Therefore, this law has been drafted to be easily applicable for the benefit of our citizens", he said.

However, the deputy of the LVV, Fatmire Kollçaku, expressed her opposition to this draft law, as she said that the same is on the legislative agenda of the Kurti Government.

She also criticized the opposition parties, as according to her, they had the opportunity to approve the draft law while they were in power, but they did not do so.

"The law on health is already being finalized in the Ministry of Health and is expected to be processed in the Assembly of Kosovo.

It is clear that the previous governments had the opportunity, especially the proposer, to proceed with the same in the Assembly, but it did not happen", said Kollçaku.

"It is not expected that a new government will continue with old policies," she said.

But this approach, according to LDK deputy, Driton Selmanaj, is an infringement of democracy and the free mandate of the deputy for legal initiatives.

"This parliamentary majority wants to show the arrogance of numbers.

You can do this, you have the votes," he said.

"But I think this is not democratic at all.

If you have no objections to the content of the draft laws and go out and read political pamphlets of another department, I tell you that you are stifling democracy and the free mandate of the deputy for legal initiatives".

PDK deputy Eliza Hoxha expressed herself in the same line, who said that the legal right to initiate laws cannot be taken from deputies.

"The legal right cannot be taken from the deputies, regardless of party or parliamentary group.

Therefore, I think that any legal initiative that has not been supported by the majority is not fair", she added.

AAK deputy, Shemsedin Dreshaj, offered support for this draft law.

At one point he also criticized his fellow MPs for the many noises in the plenary session.

"I begged you to listen or we're interrupting it.

If not, we are leaving the conversation altogether.

Vice President, either you create the conditions or we're cutting it off.

It is a basic culture when someone speaks and I hear the other," he said.

The Minister of Health, Rifat Latifi, also spoke, who said that this draft law is close to being finalized and that it will be brought to the Assembly very soon.

"The law on health is among the biggest priorities, as well as what we discussed in the morning.

This law is already being finalized and according to our plan, both of these laws will be addressed by September 30, but we will do it much earlier because we have made great progress," he said.

Deputies are continuing discussions regarding this draft law.
