If the conflict in Ukraine spills over into Moldova and relations with Russia deteriorate, Chisinau will seek help from Bucharest.

APA reports that Moldovan President Maya Sandu said this while answering a question at a press conference after the meeting with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis.

"We are worried. We are thinking about the most pessimistic scenarios. Accordingly, we are preparing for all scenarios. If Russia tries to attack the Republic of Moldova, we will certainly ask for help," said the Moldovan head of state.

"We are the closest country to the Republic of Moldova, and we will not leave you alone, regardless of the scenario in which this failed war waged by Russia against Ukraine ends," Klaus Iohannis said.
