"The Russians committed another terrible war crime by shelling the penal colony in occupied Alenivka, where they kept Ukrainian prisoners of war.

I call on all partners to strongly condemn this brutal violation of international humanitarian law and to recognize the Russian Federation as a terrorist state," Dmytro Kuleba wrote on his Twitter page.

On July 29, the Ministry of Defense of Russia and the self-proclaimed authorities of the so-called "DPR" accused Ukraine of shelling from American HIMARS missile launchers a colony in the occupied Alenivka of the Donetsk region, which housed captive Ukrainian soldiers.

According to the Russian mass media, 53 prisoners were killed and another 75 were injured.

The Ukrainian side denied its involvement in the shelling of the colony and called the mass death of Ukrainian prisoners a deliberate Russian provocation in order to hide the torture and murder of imprisoned Ukrainians.

Official Kyiv called to investigate the fact of shelling within the framework of international investigative teams.
