During inspections, increased attention is paid to people who served in the security forces of Russia and Belarus, publicly display symbols associated with the aggression of the Russian Federation, or express a negative attitude towards Latvia.

Until now, 62 foreign citizens have been refused entry to Latvia, including 41 citizens of Russia, 14 citizens of Belarus and 7 citizens of other countries.

Most of the foreigners who were refused entry at the border openly demonstrated their support for the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, voicing the typical motives of the Kremlin's war propaganda, the State Security Service said.

If these persons had a valid visa for travel to the Schengen area, the visa was cancelled.
