Prime Minister of Great Britain Boris Johnson presented the award to the Ukrainian president.

The ceremony was held in Downing Street.

Zelensky participated in it via video link, later writing in a telegram that "this award would not have been possible if the entire Ukrainian people had not risen to defend freedom from tyranny, which is trying to return us to the worst."

The award, which honored Zelensky, is given to people who "have demonstrated the outstanding leadership qualities that characterized the wartime leader Sir Winston Churchill," according to the website of the International Churchill Society.

In the past, Prince of Wales Charles, British Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher and John Major, US Secretaries of State Madeleine Albright and James Baker became the winners of the award.
