The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, today greeted the Government and people of Cuba on the occasion of the National Rebellion Day and the 69th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks.

Through a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry,

the Bolivarian Executive paid tribute to the centenary generation headed by the revolutionary leader Fidel Castro

, who "placed himself at the forefront of the struggle for the full independence of Cuba facing and defeating the atrocious dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista”.

The president of Venezuela highlighted the significance of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks as the trigger for awakening the conscience of the Cuban people and the beginning of the gestation of the future Rebel Army, which was capable of achieving the definitive victory over the tyranny on January 1, 1959.

"(...) triumph of the revolutionary forces that today continues to inspire the battles that the peoples of Latin-Caribbean America and the world wage in defense of our dignity, sovereignty and our independence", highlighted the Venezuelan Government.

Similarly, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, on behalf of the people of his country, today congratulated his Cuban counterpart, Miguel Díaz-Canel, on the Day of National Rebellion.

"It was from that historical moment that the Cuban people began their just struggle to build an independent State in which the rights and freedoms of all citizens are guaranteed

," expresses the message issued by the president's press service. 

Lukashenko also referred to the importance of significantly expanding the bilateral dialogue, including interaction on the platforms of international organizations and economic and trade cooperation.
