Srinagar:

A Tiranga rally was taken out by the BJP at Lal Chowk in Jammu and Kashmir.

This was the first such rally in the city center of Srinagar (Srinagar Lal Chowk), which is believed to be of great political importance.

The motorcycle rally was flagged off by BJP leaders from Lal Chowk to Kargil War Memorial.

Due to the rally, the entire area was sealed and heavy security arrangements were made.

BJP leader Tejashwi Surya said that the abrogation of Article 370 has made such a rally possible at Lal Chowk. It is our duty to do.

This is a very important task which the youth of India and the youth of Kashmir will definitely fulfill.

BJP worker Ravi Bhagat, who arrived from Jharkhand, said that there was a belief in the country that you cannot hoist the flag of India at Lal Chowk.. There was fear and in this sense it was a very important task.

This will send a message that Lal Chowk is like Red Fort.. As Delhi is part of India, so is Lal Chowk."

Around 200 members of BJP Yuva Morcha from across the country participated in the tricolor rally.

BJP workers from Kashmir Valley were also brought to Lal Chowk for the rally.

BJP worker Mohammad Ashraf Hajam said that this is the second time after 1992 that he has reached Lal Chowk to hoist the flag.

Mohammad Ashraf Hajam said that Murli Manohar Joshi and Narendra Modi ji had come here to hoist the flag.

I was attached to them.

At that time when the flag was hoisted, I saluted it.

At that time Narendra Modi had kept me with me. Mehbooba Mufti has attacked BJP's rally and every house tricolor.

In a tweet on Sunday, he accused the Jammu and Kashmir administration of "forcing" people to buy the national flag as part of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign.

The manner in which J&K admin is forcing students, shopkeepers & employees to pay for national flag to hoist it is as if Kashmir is an enemy territory that needs to be captured.

Patriotism comes naturally & can't be imposed.

Significantly, Lal Chowk has a great political and psychological significance.

It was from here that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had promised a plebiscite to the people of Kashmir to decide their future. In 1992, Murli Manohar Joshi tried to hoist the tricolor here along with Narendra Modi.

And now it is like a mission accomplished for the BJP.. from Lal Chowk to the tricolor rally – in the form of a flag and a message of one nation.
