Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Singh Chandel said the victim Mahesh Gupta was shot dead on the intervening night of July 21-22 when he was sleeping in a room in his house in Pichore town, about 75 km from the district headquarters. were were.

He said the police have arrested three people - alleged killer Ajit Singh from Bihar, Gupta's son Ankit (32) and his friend Nitin Lodhi - in connection with the case.

The officer said the police suspected the role of Gupta's son in the crime, as he was sleeping on the ground floor of his house while his father was shot dead on the third floor.

He said that Ankit's interrogation and investigation of the case revealed that he was angry with his father for refusing to give him money due to Ankit's addiction to alcohol and his involvement in gambling and other criminal activities.

The officer said that before the murder, Ankit gathered information online and on the basis of that contacted a gang of 'Ajit King' group of Bihar through Facebook.

He had promised Rs 1 lakh for the kidnapping and murder of his father.

He also took the help of his friend Lodhi in plotting this crime.

On July 12, Ankit deposited ₹10,000 in the account of Ajit Singh, the admin of the Ajit King group on Facebook.

Ankit and Lodhi later received Singh at Jhansi railway station and made arrangements for his stay at Labheda Tiraha area of ​​Shivpuri district.

When Ajit Singh asked him about paying money or planning the murder, Ankit and Lodhi told him that the plan was canceled as they could not arrange the money.

The SP said that when the killer insisted on giving money, Ankit told him about the plan to kill his father.

Lodhi had allegedly arranged for a country-made pistol and cartridges, which were used in the crime.


He said that on the intervening night of July 21-22, Ankit asked his wife and daughter to sleep in another room on the ground floor and allowed the killer to enter the house at around 2 pm.

He told that Ankit's wife woke up after hearing the sound of bullets, but she told that it was the sound of lightning.

After killing Gupta, the killer left and Ankit locked the house from inside.

The officer said that in the morning Ankit told the neighbors and the police that some unidentified people had killed his father.

Police further said that Gupta's wife had died about 20 years ago and he lived with his son.

The official said Gupta had recently received a compensation of Rs 1 crore after his second son, Anil Gupta, who was in the Army, allegedly committed suicide.

Apart from this, Gupta also got pension and Ankit's eyes were on the money.

He said Singh was arrested from Gorakhpur railway station in Uttar Pradesh, while Ankit and Nitin Lodhi were arrested from Pichore town here.

A case has been registered against them under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and further investigation is on, the official said.
