Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid warned Russia today that the possible closure of the Russian branch of the "Jewish Agency for Israel" would worsen bilateral relations, DPA reported.

The office of the Israeli leader released a statement from him, which pointed out that the possible dissolution of the Russian branch of the organization, which facilitates the resettlement of people in Israel, would be a "serious event".

An Israeli delegation will visit Moscow this week to try to persuade Russian authorities not to make such a move.

The Russian Ministry of Justice filed a request to the Moscow District Court to order the disbandment of the organization.

A court session has been scheduled for the case, which will be held on July 28.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the ministry made the request after the Jewish Agency for Israel violated Russian law.

He rejected the claims that in this way Moscow wants to stop the "brain drain" from Russia to Israel, BTA adds.
