This was stated by the head of the Committee on Armed Forces of the US House of Representatives, Adam Smith, in an interview with Radio Svabdnaya Europe/Radio Svaboda.

Together with a number of other members of the Congress, he visited Kyiv and met with the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, on Saturday.

The head of the President's Office, Andrei Yarmak, confirmed that the conversation was about the supply of weapons, including rocket systems of volley fire.

"We are ready to provide Ukraine with as many HIMARS installations as we can," Smith emphasized.

He noted that the delivery of, for example, 50 such installations is hardly possible, but the number of 25-30 is quite realistic.

According to the congressman, we are talking about American installations, as well as similar MLRS systems from Great Britain and other NATO countries.

Previously, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, said that Ukraine needs 50 such installations for defense, and 100 for offensive purposes. The adviser to the president's office, Mikhail Padalyak, shares the latter assessment.

At the moment, the US has already delivered 12 HIMARS missile systems to Ukraine and promised to deliver 4 more. Several MLRS have also been delivered.

Using HIMARS, in recent weeks, the Ukrainian military has carried out a series of strikes against the rear of Russian troops.

According to US estimates, Ukraine destroyed more than 100 "high-value" Russian targets on Ukrainian territories occupied by Russian troops.

At the same time, no strikes were carried out on the territory of Russia.

The Pentagon later clarified that ammunition for HIMARS with a range of up to 80 km is being transferred to Ukraine, and not missiles capable of hitting targets at a distance of 300 km.

The Ministry of Defense of Russia claimed that the Russian military destroyed 3 of the 12 HIMARS installations delivered.

The Ukrainian military has not acknowledged the loss of any, there is no independent evidence of the destruction of at least one MLRS.
