Police has arrested the accused vegetable seller

The police has arrested the accused for allegedly demanding extortion of ten lakh rupees by calling the daughter-in-law of late Ramamurthy Singh Verma, who was a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government.

A police officer gave this information on Sunday.

According to the police, the accused works as a vegetable seller and due to the debt on him, he demanded extortion and threatened to kill his family if he did not pay the money.

Superintendent of Police (SP) S Anand told 'PTI-Bhasha' on Sunday that accused Dinesh Verma made a phone call from Archana Verma, the daughter-in-law of former late minister Rammurti Singh Verma, who lives under the police station Sadar Bazar, on July 21. The extortion of the box (Rs 10 lakh) was demanded.

He told that he had also threatened to kill the entire family if the money was not given, whose FIR was lodged in the police station Sadar Bazar.

Superintendent of Police said that Dinesh Verma was arrested from Garhmukteshwar when he was preparing to come to Shahjahanpur to collect extortion money.

After interrogating the accused, Anand told that he is a resident of Jalalabad police station area of ​​Shahjahanpur district and sells vegetables in Delhi, during which he got a lot of debt, so he had asked for extortion from Archana Verma.

He told that the accused asked for a mobile from one of his companions and secretly took out his SIM and put it in his phone, after which he called to ask for money.

The officer said that the accused had made a phone call posing as a notorious criminal Neeraj Bawana, but after his arrest, it was found that his name is Dinesh Verma.

The police arrested the accused Verma and after completing the legal process after recovering the mobile phone from his possession, sent him to jail on Sunday and the matter is being investigated.
