The EU approved the imposition of an embargo on gold imports from Russia as part of the seventh package of sanctions against Moscow, BNT reported.

It is prohibited to buy, import or transfer gold originating in Russia in any form, including jewelry.

Brussels expanded the list of sanctioned persons and froze the assets of the Russian bank "Sverbank".

At the same time, Brussels has made a commitment that the sanctions do not threaten food and energy security in the world.

Transactions for agricultural products and the transfer of oil to third countries are excluded from the sanctions.

The package also expands the list of dual-use goods that could be used in the military and technology industries.

The EU also introduces a number of clarifications to the implementation of already existing sanctions - for example, in the fields of public procurement, aviation and justice.
