The world's largest nuclear submarine has been decommissioned by the Russian Navy, Russian media reported.

According to RIA Novosti, the submarine "Dmitry Donsky" (pictured) has been decommissioned and is about to be scrapped.

The sailing vessel, developed under the Soviet project 941 "Shark", entered the Navy in the 1980s.

Its place is expected to be taken by the nearly 180-meter-long nuclear submarine "Belgorod" of the Oscar II class, thus Russia will once again have the largest submarine in the world, notes The Moscow Times.
