Kosovo Police announces that it has arrested a 38-year-old man for using a firearm at a family party in Gjilan.

The announcement states that, on Tuesday, the police received information that gunshots were heard in a neighborhood of Gjilan.

"The police patrol managed to locate the place of the event, met the suspect Kosovar RA (1984)", the press release states.

At the scene of the incident, it is reported that the technical crime unit has also arrived and found sufficient material evidence that the suspect fired a firearm during a family party.

"The weapon of the type 'CANIK', Turkish production cal 9×19 mm together with 14 cartridges of the corresponding weapon have been confiscated as material evidence for the Court", it is said further.

After being escorted to the Police Station, the suspect was interviewed in the presence of the defense lawyer.

Regarding the case, the State Prosecutor was notified, who ordered that the suspect be released in a regular procedure, while the case be processed together with the evidence at the Basic Prosecutor's Office in Gjilan.

"The Gjilan Regional Police Directorate continues with the awareness campaign calling on all citizens to celebrate with their hearts, not with guns.

The fewer weapons, the fewer victims", concludes the announcement.
