The ruling party, SDSM, through a press release, has stated that with the holding of the intergovernmental conference, a new perspective is starting for Macedonia.

"A new chapter of Macedonian history begins.

The Republic of North Macedonia is starting negotiations for membership in the European Union.

After 17 years, we are finally and more than deservedly starting negotiations with the EU.

With the holding of the first intergovernmental conference in Brussels, the European Union opened its doors to our country.

Immediately after the conference, the screening process began for North Macedonia to harmonize our legal framework with the EU.

SDSM, as a state-forming party, realizes another strategic goal - negotiations and membership in the EU with a protected, confirmed and guaranteed Macedonian identity," the statement reads.

The statement emphasizes that every current achievement of the state will remain a legacy for future generations.

"Membership in the big European family opens new perspectives for the state and citizens, accelerated development, prosperity and stability.

We have a clear vision of what kind of country we want to build and leave to future generations", concludes the SDSM statement.

We remind you that the intergovernmental conference with the EU was organized after the Assembly of Macedonia approved the French proposal with a total of 68 PRO votes.
