The Special Envoy of the Great Britain for the Western Balkans, Sir Stuart Peach, estimates that the continuation of the situation without a solution between Kosovo and Serbia goes to the detriment of both countries and that brings water to the mill of those who want stagnation.

In an exclusive interview for KlanKosova.tv, Peach said that this makes the agreement between the two countries necessary.

"In my opinion, a comprehensive, final and stable agreement between Kosovo and Serbia is necessary as soon as possible: exactly when it is reached, it is in the hands of the parties", he said.

He also spoke about regional initiatives, such as the "Open Balkans", where he emphasized that in them all countries should be equal.

"I welcome the initiatives that are in support of regional cooperation, economic integration and the opening of markets, which provide real benefits for the region as a whole.

It is imperative, however, that all these processes are inclusive and open to all six countries of the Western Balkans on equal terms.

There is also a need for deconflict, and to ensure new schemes that complement existing initiatives", he said.

Peach has said that Great Britain supports Kosovo for membership in the Council of Europe, while adding that they encourage the five non-recognizing EU countries to recognize Kosovo's independence.
