No one wears a 'bare' dress like Cher.

Celebrities including Rose McGowan, Rihanna and Megan Fox have all made headlines in near-nude looks over the years, but Cher's sheer, feathered dress from the 1974 Met Gala may top it everyone.

In a new interview with Town & Country, Mackie said Cher, now 76, insisted she wear a bold look at the Met.

"She was never scared of anything I ever put her through," he said.

"She was just amazing in that area."

In fact, Cher loved the dress so much that she later wore it on the cover of Time magazine.

Mackie also created the equally extravagant black sequined look the superstar wore to the 1986 Oscars, which included a tiny top, low-cut skirt and feathered headdress.

"Up until then, she had done a lot of movies, but she was doing very unglamorous movies where she was just playing normal people," Mackie said.

“She wanted to wear something fun.

She was very comfortable in her own skin."
