The Greek Civil Defense has called for the evacuation of eight villages and settlements at the foot of Mount Penteli, north of Athens, which are threatened by a large fire, reported France Presse.
About 350 firefighters, 15 planes and 9 helicopters are involved in fighting the fire.
The National Observatory is also located in the zone, which was already evacuated.
In Penteli, 36 patients and 19 doctors and nurses from a children's hospital were also evacuated.
Some roads were closed due to the fire.
The situation is worsened by the strong winds in the area, adds BTA.
