"Azerbaijan Airlines" (AZAL) airline company will expand its aircraft fleet with four new modern "Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner" airliners.

Today, the president of AZAL, Jahangir Askerov, and the president of "Boeing Commercial Airplanes" company, the chief executive officer of the civil aircraft division, Stan Dil, signed a corresponding memorandum of understanding.

The signing of the document took place within the famous Aviation show ("Farnborough International Airshow" - Great Britain) held in Farnborough.

According to the information provided to "APA-Economics" by the press service of "Azerbaijan Airlines", it is planned to bring the mentioned types of aircraft to Azerbaijan in 2025-2030.

"AZAL is the first airline company to operate Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft in the post-Soviet space.

Currently, two liners of this type are operated in our airline.

The inclusion of new long-haul aircraft in the airline's aircraft fleet will further expand the geography of Azerbaijan Airlines' presence in the world," AZAL President Jahangir Askerov said.

"Today's agreement is a continuation of our long-term cooperation with Azerbaijan Airlines, which is renewing its fleet of aircraft to meet the growing demand for travel that we are seeing around the world.

"Boeing-787" aircrafts were more actively used by the world's airlines during the downturn of the air transport market than other wide-body aircrafts.

We are confident in the capabilities and characteristics of this type of aircraft," said Stan Diehl, president of Boeing Commercial Airplanes and chief executive officer of the civil aircraft division.

It should be noted that the Farnborough International Airshow ("Farnborough International Airshow" (FIA)) is held every two years at Farnborough Airport.

This event is the most important global platform in the field of aerospace equipment and technologies.

In 2016, FIA gained the status of the world's largest aerospace industry exhibition.

More than 80,000 visitors and about 1,500 aerospace industry experts are expected to attend the FIA.
