Azerbaijan Publishing Association Public Union (ANAIB) held a meeting with media representatives on the occasion of National Press Day.

APA informs that Shamil Sadiq, chairman of ANAIB, who opened the event with his opening speech, informed about the 2-year activity of the association.

Then the coordinator of the union Fizze Mammadova presented a slide of book fairs, reading days and other organizational activities held during the year.

The head of the Book Industry Department of the Ministry of Culture, Akif Marifli, spoke about the book policy of the ministry: "Last year, we bought 105,000 manat books, and this year, we bought 500,000 manat books from authors and publishers. We believe that we will increase this number even more in the coming years."

The head of the department also noted that at the initiative of Minister Anar Karimov, qualified graduates are already being assigned to the country's libraries: "Culture and Art, as well as librarianship graduates of Baku State Universities are being assigned to the country's libraries. All this has a positive effect on the attitude towards books in the country."

Nurman Tariq, the vice-chairman of ANAIB, presented the statistics conducted by the union among the readers during his speech.

According to statistics, readers' interest in Russian and Turkish language literature has attracted attention.

Later, Ph.D. in philology Rafig Ismayilov, honored journalist Gulu Maharramli, Elchin Shikhli, poet, essayist Kismet Rustamov, Agil Jamal made suggestions.

After the speeches, the questions of the media representatives were answered.
