Political experts have welcomed the opening of negotiations for Albania and North Macedonia by the European Union, saying that this is an extremely important and historic day for Albanians.

Likewise, the former diplomat, Berisha, said that today is an irreversible path towards European integration

Former diplomat Berisha said in the show "Debat Plus" that this date is historic for all Albanians since these two countries have an Albanian population.

According to Berisha, the Albanian people on this day will surely become part of this civilized history on the way to the EU.

While the analyst Ymer Mushkolaj said that this is a very important day for Albania, since this country received the status of a candidate country in the EU already 8 years ago.

According to him, North Macedonia has had a tragic story.

"A candidate country for 17 years, this country has a tragic story, since a country had to change its name and language in order to enter the process of negotiations for the EU", said Mushkolaj.

According to him, it is extremely problematic to respond to all EU requirements.

He said that this day is a clear indication that these 8 years in Albania have not only dealt with crime and drug cultivation, but also work in the process of European integration.

He said that even though this day was reached during the government of Prime Minister Edi Rama, it does not mean that he fixed everything with one stamp, but it is a contribution since it happened during his government.

While the analyst, Vehbi Kajtazi, has said that this is an extraordinary day for Albania, since even Kosovars' hearts beat stronger for Albania.

Analyst Vehbi Kajtazi

"Our heart beats stronger for Albania, but also for North Macedonia, where a large number of Albanians live", said Kajtazi.

According to him, Prime Minister Rama is known for various symbols.

He said that when Edi Rama was elected prime minister, the infirmary in Albania was destroyed.

"Albania is known as a drug country, but this is probably not being seen as an obstacle for negotiations in the European Union", said Kajtazi.

According to Kajtazi, every Albanian should have enjoyed this day today.

He has said that Kosovo is much ahead in the positive aspect from Albania and North Macedonia, but that according to him, the fate of Kosovo is related to politics and an open process with Serbia.

For Kajtazi, everyone in Albania has contributed to this day, because as he says during the time of Sali Berisha, Albania joined NATO, while during the time of Rama's government the negotiation process is taking place.

Similarly, the analyst Visar Ymeri said about this day that it is important for Albania and for the region.

"Obviously, it is an important day to start negotiations for Albania and North Macedonia.

It is an important day for the region as for a long time the EU has not made any move.

There is also positive news for Kosovo.

The EU will now also behave differently towards Kosovo in relation to the liberalization of visas", said Ymeri.

According to him, the negotiation process increases the weight of the country in the EU.

Meanwhile, analyst Ylli Hoxha said that Kosovo is looking at this day with sympathy and jealousy.

According to him, the hospital has made Albania economically complete some reforms faster.

Analyst Ylli Hoxha

"I think that the first decision that should be taken is that this process that has produced a lot of crime is concluded with legalization, that is to avoid one of the future obstacles", said Hoxha.

According to Hoxha, in Albania the drug trade has more budget than the state itself.

He said that Albania should fight organized crime as soon as possible in order to move forward towards the path to the EU./RTV Dukagjini/
