Russian President Vladimir Putin said today in Tehran that progress has been made in the negotiations for the export of grain from Ukraine via the Black Sea and thanked his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, for the "mediation" in this matter.

"I would like to thank you for your mediation efforts, for offering Turkey as a ground for negotiations on the issues of food production and grain export across the Black Sea," Putin said in a meeting with Erdogan in Tehran.

The head of the Turkish state has stated that Russia's approach to Turkey's mediation for the extraction of Ukrainian wheat from the Black Sea ports was "positive".

"The approach of the Russian delegation at the last meetings in Istanbul was very positive.

The outcome of the talks will have a positive impact on the whole world," said President Erdogan before his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

The Turkish president also said that he believes that the talks will be "fruitful" in the coming days as well.

A meeting last Wednesday between Turkish, Ukrainian, Russian and United Nations (UN) officials agreed to form a coordination center in Istanbul to facilitate Ukrainian wheat exports.

Otherwise, Russia has continued today with bombings of the Ukrainian state, causing material damage and casualties.
