The Ministry of Internal Affairs directed 41,576 people to the Republican Narcology Center of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan for identification of all types of intoxication cases during January-June of the current year.

APA informs that this was stated in the report on the end of January-June 2022 on the fight against drug addiction and illegal drug trafficking.

Among them, 1224 out of 1694 people who underwent a medical examination to determine their drug use were found to be users, and necessary measures were taken in this regard.

During the reporting period, 2,947 people received inpatient treatment.

Currently, 942 patients are receiving treatment in 3 centers under the methadone substitution treatment program.

31 out of 339 patients enrolled in antiretroviral therapy (ART) during 6 months of 2022 were injection drug users.

As of June 31, 2021, the total number of HIV patients enrolled in ART was 6,755, of which 2,301 are injecting drug users.

As of December 31, 2020, the number of people registered with the diagnosis of drug addiction in the republic was 34,602.

Of those persons, 27106 people are dispensary, 7496 people are preventive registration.

556 of them are women.

24,850 people are drug users belonging to the opioid group, 9,752 people are drug users belonging to the cannabinoid group.

In 2021, 5,603 people were registered with relevant diagnoses, and 4,789 people were deregistered.
