French President Emmanuel Macron has promised that France will stand by North Macedonia during the first intergovernmental conference with the EU.

Macron has stated that the conference will be a process, a historic stage for the admission of North Macedonia to the EU.

"With a sovereign vote on France's proposal at the end of its presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Macedonian parliament decidedly chose Europe," Macron said.

The Prime Minister of North Macedonia Dimitar Kovacevski said on Saturday that the first intergovernmental conference with the EU will be held on July 19 in Brussels.

The Parliament in Skopje yesterday, with 68 votes in favor, approved the French proposal for removing the Bulgarian veto and unblocking the negotiations for the European integration of North Macedonia.
