A Ukrainian cargo plane flying from Serbia to Jordan that crashed in northern Greece late Saturday was transporting ammunition to Bangladesh.

According to what has been reported by the foreign media, also confirmed by the authorities in Ukraine, the Antonov An-12 plane had eight Ukrainian crew members, all of whom died, Telegraph reports.

An official at cargo firm Meridian told Reuters: "They certainly didn't survive that."

And there were eyewitnesses who filmed the crash of the "fireball", with the explosions continuing for two hours and the ruins burning until the morning.

In the meantime, images from the scene were published that showed the "traces", as well as the garbage, scattered in the fields, Telegrafi reports.

The Minister of Defense of Serbia said on Sunday that the plane was carrying 11.5 tons of products produced by its defense industry and the buyer was the Ministry of Defense of Bangladesh.

Nebojsa Stefanovic added that the plane's cargo was owned by the Serbian company Valir, a trading company registered to carry out foreign trade activities of military armament equipment and other defense products.

State broadcaster ERT said the plane's signal was lost shortly after the pilot requested an emergency landing from Greek aviation authorities due to an engine problem.
