The EU welcomes the decision of the Parliament in Skopje to approve the negotiating framework

Within the framework of the meeting, a review will be made of the implementation of the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation, and the measures for its effective implementation in the next period will be agreed upon.

For this purpose, a protocol will be signed between the foreign ministers of the two countries.

Yesterday, with 68 votes "for", the parliament in Skopje accepted the conclusions proposed by SDSM on the negotiation framework with the EU and obliged the government to continue on the path of European integration.

With 68 votes, the French proposal was approved and the doors to the country's membership in the European Union are finally open, commented on Twitter Bulgarian MEP Ilhan Kyuchuk ("Renew Europe"), who is the European Parliament's permanent rapporteur for North Macedonia.

On June 24, the Bulgarian National Assembly mandated the Council of Ministers to approve the proposal of the French Presidency for the Republic of North Macedonia, subject to the fulfillment of certain conditions.

170 people's representatives voted "for", 37 were "against" and 21 abstained.

According to the decision, only if these conditions are met, the 47th National Assembly will expect the Council of Ministers to approve the Draft Negotiation Framework at the same time or after finalizing the Protocol under Art.

12 of the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation.

Then, in a position from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they stated that the Bulgarian Parliament took a historic decision to support opening the way for the accession of the Republic of North Macedonia to the EU under specific parameters.

In this context, the National Assembly expects the Council of Ministers to approve the Negotiation Framework and the Council's Conclusions, officially proposed by the French Presidency, as well as to sign the Protocol of the Second Meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission under Art.

12 of the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation with the Republic of North Macedonia, on the main parameters of which an agreement in principle has been reached with Skopje, the position of our Foreign Ministry also states.
