At least three people were killed and 15 wounded after Russian rocket fire hit the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, Reuters reported, citing regional authorities.

"The rockets hit an industrial plant and a busy street next to it," the regional governor of Dnipropetrovsk region, Valentin Reznichenko, said on Facebook.

"We are determining the extent of the destruction," he said.

He said the Ukrainian army had shot down four of the six rockets fired at the city and the region in the attack this evening.

Strikes were also reported elsewhere in Ukraine.

Poltava Region Governor Dmytro Lunin said there were explosions in the city of Kremenchuk.

The governor of Odesa region, Maxim Marchenko, said that a missile was fired over the southern part of the country.

For the time being, there was no information about possible victims or destruction, DPA points out.

Nationalists shelled residential areas in the city of Slavyansk in order to blame the Russian army and spread anti-Russian sentiment among the population, said the head of the National Defense Management Center of Russia, Colonel General Mikhail Mizintsev, quoted by TASS.

Assistant Interior Minister of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic, Vitaly Kiselev, said the Ukrainian army was forcibly evacuating people from Kramatorsk and Slavyansk regions in Donetsk region, transferring them to Dnipropetrovsk region and from there to western Ukraine.
