The final results of the Solidarity for Health Initiative, a joint project of the European Union (EU) and the World Health Organization (WHO), have been presented.

APA was told by the Azerbaijani Delegation of the World Health Organization that within the framework of the project, technical support was provided to national healthcare partners in various directions in order to strengthen the response and fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the implementation of the project, 521 medical equipment, including 6 ventilators and 1 BiPAP device, 81 patient monitors, 141 oxygen concentrators and 229 pulse oximeters were handed over to national partners within the project.

At the same time, more than 1 million personal protective equipment and 17,600 hand hygiene supplies were provided to the country's medical institutions to protect the health of those fighting on the front lines with COVID-19.

The project assessed 23 medical institutions for infection prevention and control, 5 medical institutions for managing COVID-19 cases, and 7 medical institutions for oxygen supply and use and gave appropriate recommendations.

At the same time, the updating of the guidance on the management of cases of COVID-19 and the establishment and activities of the Task Force on infection prevention and control (IPN) were supported.

In order to strengthen the capacity to fight against COVID-19, 7800 medical workers, medical students, public relations specialists and media representatives were involved in relevant training.

In a short period of time, the number of courses registered by Azerbaijani medical workers on the "OpenWHO" online training platform increased 10 times and reached 18,000.
