Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President JP Nadda, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and other members of the Parliamentary Board were present in this meeting being held at the party headquarters in Delhi. are.

The electoral college consists of members of both the houses of Parliament, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to choose the Vice President of the country.

The current strength of the parliament is 780.

Of these, only BJP has 394 MPs.

More than 390 votes are needed to win.

The tenure of current Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will end on August 10.

The last date for filing nomination papers is July 19 and voting is scheduled for August 6.

The BJP has fielded tribal leader Draupadi Murmu as its candidate for the presidential election.

If Murmu wins the election, she will be the country's first tribal president.

The NDA had made the then Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu as its candidate for the post of Vice President in 2017.
