The UN has recommended Azerbaijan to prevent sex-based abortions.

APA reports that Farid Adilov, head of the Department of Foreign Relations and Protocol Service of the State Committee on Family, Women and Children's Issues, said this while informing about the final recommendations of the 6th period report on the implementation of the UN CEDAW Convention.

He said that among the recommendations of the UN Population Fund, there are points regarding education, employment and health services:

"Teaching of gender subject in universities in Azerbaijan was welcomed. However, concern was expressed about cases of evasion of education among girls. It was recommended to increase the activities aimed at increasing the participation of women in STEM, and to increase the access to education for girls living in remote areas.

Regarding the field of employment, the adoption of the decision to cancel workplaces where women's work is prohibited was positively assessed.

The number of such jobs was reduced from 674 to 204.

However, it is considered appropriate to further reduce this number."

Farid Adilov added that the adoption of the Law on Reproductive Health is one of the main recommendations.

In addition, points such as the prevention of sex-based abortions are also reflected in the recommendation document.
