In the ceremony organized by the Embassy of Turkey in Kosovo, marking the Day of Democracy and National Unity of Turkey, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, expressed the considerations of the people of Kosovo towards the country and the Turkish people.

"The night of July 15-16, 2016 was a serious event for Turkey, but also an anxious night for democracies everywhere in the world.

Before our eyes, there was an attempt to seize power from the elected representatives of the Turkish people by force of arms.

The people stood up in defense of democracy, millions of citizens filled the squares, they formed barricades with their bodies against the tanks and in the end they won", stated Kurti in this ceremony.

Kosovo looks to Turkey as an ally state and a friendly people, with whom we have close historical ties, sincere and useful relations in many ways in the present, Prime Minister Kurti said in his speech.

He added that for the future, the people of Kosovo and Turkey share the perspective of stable peace in the Balkan region, integration into NATO and the European Union, as well as economic and social development.

"We are grateful to President Erdogan for the support he has given to Kosovo's rapid membership in NATO, as a worthy action that would serve security and peace in the Balkans and the world.

Turkey properly assesses the threats to security in our region and is supportive of the expansion of NATO and the influence of the North Atlantic Alliance in the Western Balkans".

Kurti says that Turkey remains a strategic partner of Kosovo and the government of Kosovo is committed to continuing and expanding the economic, cultural and social cooperation between the two countries./
