US President Joe Biden's plane

Joe Biden (Joseph Robin Biden) is an American politician. Joe Biden was born on November 20, 1942, today he made the historic first flight from Israel to Saudi Arabia and arrived in Jeddah, reported France Press, quoted by BTA.

This is the last leg of his Middle East tour.

Before that, Biden was in Israel and the Palestinian territories.

Today, he became the first US president to fly directly from Israel to the Saudi monarchy, signaling warming ties amid threats from Iran, the Associated Press noted.

During the visit to Saudi Arabia, Biden will discuss energy supplies, human rights and security cooperation with Saudi representatives.

The visit aims to restart US relations with the monarchy, which Biden once promised to treat as a pariah on the world stage because it does not respect human rights, Reuters notes.

But energy and security interests have forced Biden and his advisers to decide against isolating the kingdom, which is the world's largest oil exporter and a regional center of influence that has strengthened ties with Russia and China.

The White House said Biden would have a bilateral meeting with Saudi King Salman at the royal palace in Jeddah, and that the president and his team would then have a working session with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Saudi ministers.

It will be held again in the palace.

Tomorrow there will be a big meeting of Arab leaders in Jeddah.

Biden will discuss energy security with the leaders of the oil-producing Gulf states.

He hopes for more action from OPEC Plus to increase oil production, but it is unlikely that there will be any bilateral message from those talks, US national security adviser Jake Sullivan warned during the plane ride on Biden from Israel to Jeddah.

He also clarified that Biden wants to "recalibrate" Washington's relations with Saudi Arabia, not break them.
