In the office of Svetlana Tsikhanovskaya, they reacted to the presentation by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus at the UN of a voluntary review on the fulfillment of international obligations for the sustainable development of the country until 2030.

The alternative report they presented to the UN was prepared by representatives of the civil society of Belarus.

"It is not the first time that the regime uses the UN platform to tell how Belarus is successfully fulfilling the goals of sustainable development and international obligations, and only sanctions restrain its development.

Meanwhile, the independent report prepared by the civil society and the Office of Svetlana Tsikhanovskaya reflects the real situation: the main reason that holds back the development of Belarus is a systematic and unprecedented violation of human rights, which makes it impossible to achieve the goals of sustainable development," Tsikhanovskaya's Office reported on this occasion.

Tsikhanovskaya's office considers the participation of its representatives in this UN forum very important in order not to allow the "regime to avoid responsibility for the systematic violation of human rights", as well as to stop funding for achieving the goals of sustainable development, which will be used to strengthen the dictatorship.

Representatives of Tsikhanovskaya's Office plan to hold consultations in a number of foreign missions to the UN on more effective use of the organization's mechanisms to stop Belarus' participation in the war against Ukraine and resolve the internal political crisis.

What the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus told the UN about the priorities of sustainable development

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the national review presents "the progress made since the submission of the first national review in 2017".

This year, the priorities of the sustainable development of Belarus are education, gender issues, marine ecosystems, terrestrial ecosystems, as well as partnership.

The head of the main department of multilateral diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Iryna Vyalichka, while presenting the report, noted "the negative impact of unilateral coercive sanctions on the processes of sustainable development."

At the same time, she spoke about Belarus' approaches "to involve youth in the promotion and implementation" of sustainable development goals, as well as actions "to ensure gender equality and build interaction with national and international partners for the purposes of sustainable development."

What happened to the national partners of sustainable development

The structure of managing the process of sustainable development and implementation of the "Agenda - 2030" (an international document approved by the UN General Assembly on sustainable development) provides for the involvement of state and public organizations that perform the functions of national partners.

By the end of May, 765 civil society organizations had been liquidated or were in the process of liquidation in Belarus, according to the data of the monitoring carried out by the human rights organizations Lawtrend and OEEU.

The number of non-profit organizations that have been forcibly liquidated or are in the process of liquidation has reached 448, and those that have decided to liquidate on their own - 317.
