Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ)

The Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ) expresses its indignation and protest in connection with the new sentence of the political prisoner journalist Kateryna Andreeva (Bakhvalova), the statement of the organization says.

The Belarusian Association of Journalists considers this sentence as "court punishment of a colleague for expressing his opinion and performing professional journalistic work."

BAJ sees this sentence as "undisguised persecution of a specific person": "We call on the competent state authorities to immediately cancel the sentence."

European Federation of Journalists (EFJ)

"The Belarusian dictator and his associates do not neglect even the lowest actions.

They went so far as to prosecute the previously unjustly convicted journalist based on new fabricated charges.

These prosecutions and increased repression against journalists demonstrate the true nature of the dictatorial regime in Belarus," said the president of the European Federation of Journalists, Maya Sever.

EFJ calls on the European Union, the Council of Europe and the OSCE to increase diplomatic pressure on the Belarusian leadership.

Svetlana Tsikhanovskaya, the democratic leader of Belarus

"Kateryna Andreeva was accused of "revealing a state secret" - but which one?

- Svetlana Tikhanovskaya is sweating.

- Nothing is known about this "mystery".

But when (representatives of the regime) talk about a "prosperous state" at the UN, one can guess what this state secret is.

There are 1,244 political prisoners – and thousands more imprisoned for political reasons.

Among the Belarusians killed by the regime are from the 1990s.

In the destruction of 765 non-governmental organizations that helped people - while the state did not do this work.

In hundreds of rockets launched from the territory of Belarus on Ukrainian cities.

Ekaterina Andreeva is accused of treason by the people who betrayed Belarus.

They betrayed national interests, their country and even their relatives and friends living in this country.

But no matter how much these people try to deceive the whole world and themselves, the truth will win - precisely thanks to such brave and proud Belarusians as Kateryna Andreeva, on whose strength and core the new Belarus is now being born."
